Miranda Carter’s Waking Ground (2025) is a square mixed-media painting made with non-toxic oil paint on FSC wood and recycled canvas. A pale, luminous upper field of white, soft pink and misted blue descends towards a darker band of teal, charcoal and muted coral. Broad veils, blurred edges and fine vertical marks create a horizon-like structure while keeping the composition open and atmospheric. Measuring 120 cm square, the work balances quiet expanses of light with denser, earth-toned passages below.
