Claire-Julia Hill is the Founder and Director of Gallery Les Bois, a contemporary art gallery based at Worlds End Studios in Chelsea, London. She founded the gallery to demonstrate that sustainability in art can sit alongside beauty, conceptual rigour and potentially investment-worthy artistic practice.

Claire-Julia studied History of Art at the University of Cambridge. Her interest in ecology and responsible cultural practice developed during her studies and later informed the founding of Gallery Les Bois in 2024.

At Gallery Les Bois, Claire-Julia leads the curatorial programme, artist selection, collector engagement and the gallery’s approach to sustainability. Her position is grounded in a simple principle: the work must first succeed as art, with the integrity and depth to reward sustained engagement, before sustainability is considered as a curatorial lens.

She also leads the gallery’s editorial programme, writing and commissioning articles and guides that examine contemporary collecting, material intelligence, cultural stewardship and regenerative practice.

Selected discussions and recognition

In March 2026, Claire-Julia chaired Sustainable Art and the Future of Cultural Stewardship, a Cambridge University discussion bringing together artistic practice, environmental innovation and the future of collecting. In 2026, she was shortlisted in the Entrepreneur category of the Women in Green Business Awards, alongside Gallery Les Bois’ shortlist for Business of the Year. She was also shortlisted for Founder of the Year at the Sustainable Times RISE Awards 2025.
