Gallery Les Bois publishes articles, interviews, guides, exhibition reflections and cultural commentary through its Magazine and wider editorial programme. These standards explain how we identify authors, assess sources, review factual and sustainability claims, manage commercial context and correct published material. They apply to work written by the gallery, commissioned contributors and guest authors.
Authorship and editorial responsibility
We identify the author of a piece wherever an individual contribution is material. Gallery-authored articles are clearly attributed to Gallery Les Bois, while named contributors are credited in the byline. Contributor descriptions are limited to relevant, supportable experience and are not intended as endorsements. Claire-Julia Hill’s work as Founder, Director and an author on this website is described on her canonical profile. Gallery Les Bois retains editorial responsibility for the material it publishes, including commissioned work.
Sources, quotations and attribution
We favour primary and first-hand sources wherever they are available. These may include artist and studio documentation, recorded interviews, material or supplier information, museum and university records, official award and event information, public reports, research publications and credible journalism. Quotations are attributed to their speaker and source, and we do not knowingly invent, alter or misrepresent quotations, citations or supporting evidence.
Where information comes from an artist or studio, we describe it as such. We distinguish an artist statement from documented evidence and from the gallery’s own curatorial assessment. External sources are linked or named when that materially helps a reader understand or verify a claim.
Fact-checking and sustainability claims
Before publication, we review names, dates, titles, roles, materials, exhibition details, awards and other checkable claims against the most appropriate available source. Sustainability claims receive particular care because evidence can vary by artist, artwork and date. We assess those claims in line with the gallery’s published sustainability assessment methodology, including its distinction between documented evidence, artist statements and gallery assessment.
Opinion, interpretation and curatorial judgement are presented as such. References to collectability, long-term significance or potentially investment-worthy practice are not promises of financial performance and should not be read as investment advice.
Commercial context and conflicts of interest
Gallery Les Bois represents artists and may offer their work for sale. Editorial coverage of a represented artist, gallery exhibition, partner or event therefore exists within a commercial and curatorial relationship and should not be understood as an independent market review. We aim to make the relevant relationship clear from the page context and to separate verifiable facts from advocacy, interpretation and opinion.
Contributors are expected to disclose relationships or interests that could materially affect their treatment of a subject. Where a conflict is relevant to a reader’s understanding, it should be disclosed within the article or accompanying editorial context.
Use of AI-assisted tools
Gallery Les Bois may use AI-assisted tools for limited research organisation, transcription, editing support, translation, accessibility or technical production. Such tools do not replace human editorial judgement. Published material is reviewed by a responsible human editor, and factual, artistic, attribution and sustainability claims must be checked against appropriate sources. Fabricated quotations, invented citations and materially misleading synthetic content are prohibited.
We do not knowingly place confidential personal information or rights-restricted material into an AI-assisted workflow without an appropriate basis. Where generative tools have played a substantive role in published text or imagery, we aim to identify that use when it is material to the reader’s understanding of the work.
Corrections and updates
We welcome specific, evidenced correction requests. Please email editorial@gallerylesbois.com with the page URL, the passage in question and any supporting source. We will assess the request against the available evidence and update, qualify or correct the material where appropriate.
Material factual corrections should be reflected transparently through an updated date or correction note where the change affects a reader’s understanding. Minor spelling, punctuation, formatting or broken-link repairs may be made without a separate notice. Content is not removed merely because it is unfavourable, but removal may be considered where publication creates a legal, rights, privacy, safety or serious accuracy concern.
Images, permissions and copyright
We use gallery, artist, contributor, partner or appropriately licensed images and provide credit where required. Quotations and reproduced material are kept proportionate to their editorial purpose. Rights holders who believe material has been used incorrectly may contact editorial@gallerylesbois.com with sufficient detail for the matter to be reviewed.
