Gallery Les Bois Welcomes ISEP Members for an Evening Exploring Sustainable Art

14 November 2025
Overview
On 14 November 2025, Gallery Les Bois hosted members of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) for a special evening exhibition and discussion at World's End Studios in Chelsea. Bringing together contemporary artists whose practices engage with material innovation, environmental awareness and thoughtful craftsmanship, the event explored how sustainable art can exist not only as a conceptual framework, but also as visually compelling and investment-worthy contemporary work.
The evening featured artworks by Oliver Akdeniz, Steve Foster, John Sabraw, Caitlin Heffernan, Sienna Martz, Julian Emsley and Miranda Carter. Across painting, sculpture and mixed media, the exhibition highlighted a diverse range of approaches to sustainability within contemporary art practice.
Throughout the evening, Gallery Les Bois spoke with attendees about the evolving definition of sustainable art and the importance of moving beyond assumptions that environmentally conscious work must sacrifice beauty, collectability or artistic depth. Discussions explored the role of material sourcing, studio processes, longevity, circularity and artistic intention, while also recognising that sustainability within art is often nuanced and multi-layered.
Guests engaged thoughtfully with the exhibition, asking questions about artistic processes, environmental responsibility and the relationship between aesthetics and ethics in contemporary collecting. The atmosphere was warm, inquisitive and collaborative, with conversations continuing throughout the evening among artists, sustainability professionals and collectors alike.
The exhibition itself reflected the breadth of sustainable contemporary practice. John Sabraw's materially innovative works sat alongside Steve Foster's atmospheric paintings, while Caitlin Heffernan, Sienna Martz and Miranda Carter each contributed distinct visual languages rooted in texture, emotion and experimentation. Sculptural works by Julian Emsley and Oliver Akdeniz further expanded the dialogue between natural forms, craftsmanship and environmental consciousness.
The event formed part of Gallery Les Bois' ongoing commitment to supporting artists whose work engages meaningfully with sustainability while maintaining strong aesthetic and conceptual presence within the contemporary art landscape.
