Gallery Les Bois is delighted to present Into the Blue, a group exhibition featuring works by Caitlin Heffernan, Michelle Gagliano and Miranda Carter. Running from 4 June to 28 June at our showroom within World's End Studios, the exhibition brings together three distinctive artistic voices connected by a shared fascination with water, landscape and our relationship with the natural world.
Water has long occupied a central place within artistic practice. It is both subject and symbol: a source of life, a force of change and a powerful reminder of humanity's connection to the wider environment. In Into the Blue, these themes are explored through a diverse collection of works that invite reflection on the beauty, fragility and enduring significance of the world's oceans, rivers and waterways.
Each artist approaches the theme from a unique perspective. Caitlin Heffernan's evocative works capture the movement and energy of water through layered compositions that balance abstraction with a strong sense of place. Her practice reflects a deep engagement with natural environments, creating paintings that encourage viewers to pause and consider the landscapes that inspire them.
Michelle Gagliano's contribution brings another dimension to the exhibition, exploring the emotional and sensory qualities of water. Through subtle shifts in colour, texture and form, her works evoke memories, moods and moments of connection, inviting audiences to engage with the subject on both a personal and universal level.
Miranda Carter's paintings complete the dialogue by examining the relationship between nature, atmosphere and environmental awareness. Known for works that often draw attention to ecological themes, Carter's practice encourages contemplation of the delicate balance that exists between humanity and the natural world. Her paintings resonate with Gallery Les Bois' commitment to fostering meaningful conversations around sustainability through culture rather than obligation.
While each artist brings a distinct visual language to the exhibition, together their works create a compelling exploration of water as both a physical presence and a metaphor for change, continuity and renewal. The exhibition reflects Gallery Les Bois' broader curatorial philosophy: championing artists whose work combines artistic excellence with thoughtful engagement with contemporary issues and our relationship with the environment.
At a time when conversations around sustainability, conservation and stewardship have become increasingly important, Into the Blue offers an opportunity to consider these themes through the lens of contemporary art. Rather than presenting solutions, the exhibition creates space for reflection, encouraging visitors to engage with the natural world in ways that are imaginative, emotional and deeply human.
The exhibition also highlights the diversity of approaches through which artists contribute to wider cultural and environmental conversations. Through material choices, subject matter and conceptual exploration, Heffernan, Gagliano and Carter each demonstrate how contemporary art can deepen our understanding of the world around us while remaining visually compelling and intellectually engaging.
Into the Blue is on view from 4 June until 28 June at the Gallery Les Bois showroom, World's End Studios. Viewings are available by appointment.
