Without Reception: An Evening with Volcan: Volcan | London | 7 October 2026
Wednesday 7 October 2026 | 6.00pm–8.00pm | Worlds End Studios, Chelsea | Rex and Edna will be present.
Gallery Les Bois presents Without Reception at Worlds End Studios in Chelsea on Wednesday 7 October 2026, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Rex and Edna, who work together as Volcan, will be present for an evening of close looking and conversation around a series concerned with visibility, connection and the distance between seeing and being seen.
Without Reception
In Without Reception, Volcan places the familiar buffering symbol across the human face, using the visual language of a failed signal to explore identity, perception and incomplete connection. The series was presented in the Republic of Cameroon Pavilion during the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024. The London event continues the same series through a different selection of works; it is not a restaging of the exact Venice display.
The title image, The Distance Between Us Without Reception (2026), holds a blurred portrait behind a white buffering circle. The person is present, yet recognition remains incomplete.
Meet Rex and Edna
The presence of both artists offers visitors an opportunity to hear how the series developed, how two perspectives are negotiated within one collaborative identity, and why the interruption of the image matters.
