The Rising I and II (2019) is a pair of narrow vertical oil paintings on panel by Michelle Gagliano. Across both panels, pale blue and warm ochre gather in layered, weathered passages above deeper rust and grey-brown fields. Darker marks interrupt the transition between upper and lower sections, giving the paired composition a shifting, horizon-like rhythm. Each panel measures 23 x 61 cm; displayed together, the two works create a balanced dialogue of repetition, variation and atmospheric colour.
